The Spring Chapter

chapter two: September to November on the loop — and, for the first time, backwards.

Four by the water after the reverse loop

Thirteenth of September · four, the wrong way round.

Spring opened by turning the course around. Same loop, same wall, same coffee — the hills simply arrived first.

Sunday 13 September · field of 4

The reverse loop

Four starters and a new idea: run it backwards. The log-keeper’s report came in at two minutes to nine, unpunctuated and accurate — quite a challenging start with the hills up front — and then the line of the morning: Rob completed the entire course gazing at Cockatoo Rock. Miles, Rob, Claude and Jane by the water afterwards, and the first time on The Clock for the reverse course, which keeps its own board so nobody has to argue about which way round a time was run.

Spring runs to the end of November

Next Sunday’s entry lands here after the run — the shot, the line, the headcount. Race days get pages of their own under Events.

The next entry, after the run.

Same loop, the other way. Still the same argument about the swim.
